For ‘Survivor’ Fans

Erinn from Survivor stopped in today and spent the 9am hour on-air with us. She was an awesome guest and as a fan of the show here are the top 10 things I learned about the game from the Waukesha native who finished 3rd;

1.   Tribal Council can last for HOURS

2.   They don’t walk everywhere they go (like Exile Island and Tribal) ’cause there’s too much ground to cover

3.    Brendan is a self made multi millionaire and didn’t need the money

4.    Taj (Mrs. Eddie George) was playing for a charity

5.    Erinn lost 23 pounds while on the show (she doesn’t have 23 to lose)

6.    Ben Wade is a nice guy; his alter ego “Coach” is an ass

7.    She’s been back in town for 6 months

8.    Her Dad’s visit happened over Thanksgiving weekend so he didn’t have to tell anyone where he was

9.    She had an alliance with Stephen that they never really showed

10.  She would be up for it if they asked her to appear on an “All Star” edition of the show

It’s Miracle Marathon time once again and all of us at ‘KLH are really pumped.

The Marathon is something we work toward all year long and these 3 days are the culmination of a lot of hard work done by a lot of people. Last year we raised almost 1.4 million dollars for Children’s Hospital during the 3 day event and this year we’re looking to raise 1.5 million.

We realize that that is an ambitious goal, but our kids are worth it.

One of the main comments we hear every year is that “I just can’t listen because the stories are too sad”.

Wow, sorry to ruin your day, but the kids and families we talk with can’t just “turn to another station”.

This is their life and their problem and they deal with it 24/7 365.

They show tremendous courage by going on the radio and giving details about personal, painful situations.

They do it because they hope it’ll motivate you to donate money to the cause. Most of them never thought they would need a place like Children’s Hospital, but they do. And when I see empty parking spaces in the family lot it reminds me that

someone else who didn’t think they would be at Children’s might just be parking their car in that spot.

How’s that saying go? “There, but for the grace of God, go I.”

So tune in Wednesday May 20th thru Friday, May 22nd and prepare to be moved.

This year, we’ll be broadcasting from the new West Tower, which is an amazing place.

Carole and I got a guided tour about a month ago and to say this place is amazing is an understatement.

It’s truly state of the art in medical care. The sad truth is that as soon as it opened it was already over capacity.

Please help make a difference in the life of a child by clicking on the link and donating. Dare to care!

That’s What (cyber) Friends Are For

May 11th, 2009 | By Dave in Uncategorized | No Comments »

I love all my Facebook friends.

All 387 of them.

Okay, so I only know about 30 percent of them, but they’re still MY FRIENDS.  Even if they’re only anonymous, cyber-friends, I don’t want to do anything to p*** them off. That’s why I watched this video; and you should too. Especially those 387 of you. You know, so we’re all on the same page.

Wrong on Many Levels

Shia LaBeouf’s Childhood Deserves an NC-17 Rating”

The “Transformers” star tells the June issue of Playboy that his mom is the sexiest woman he knows. What???!!???

How creepy is that? If what he says is true, well, let’s just say there’s not enough therapy in the world to help him. Read on;

“She’s an ethereal angel,” he says of his mother, a former ballerina. “Nobody looks like that woman. If I could meet my mother and marry her, I would. I would be with my mother now, if she weren’t my mother, as sick as that sounds.”

LaBeouf reveals how his hippie mother would often walk around their home naked — even when he had friends over to play.

“The nudity was weird, especially when her friends came over,” he tells Playboy. “All of them would just be naked around the house. That was strange for me, and it was really bizarre when my friends were there.

“You’ve got your little buds over, and Mom’s, like, playing naked connect the dots or whatever. She’s in the middle of goddess-group time, where it’s literally a bunch of naked women tracing auras around one another’s bodies with incense and then sitting together and humming for prolonged periods of time.”

LaBeouf also reveals how his parents were open about their drug use. “I grew up with a bunch of hippies, and marijuana was always around,” he says. “Pot was never looked at as a negative thing. I could smoke it on holidays with my parents, and we were all good. I like pot. It has never been a monster for me. I can put limits on it. But I definitely saw from a very young age what drugs can do to you.”

Yeah, drugs can make you think walking around your house naked in front of your son and his buddies is cool.

Say “Thanks” to a Veteran

May 5th, 2009 | By Dave in Uncategorized | 2 Comments »

My Mom is out of town for a few weeks and the other day I went over to her place to get the mail and check on things. While I was there I looked in her storage area and found all of my Dad’s old stuff from World War 2. Dad’s been gone for over 20 years but Mom has all of his war stuff in a big, old box. With the 65th anniversary of D-Day coming up I took some extra time to peruse it all. He was in the 3rd Armored Division (Spearhead) 36th Armored Infantry Regiment. I found his old dress uniform (pants size 32w34L) with medals still attached. I found his Purple Hearts. I found pictures of him with his buddies from the “Third Herd”. Then I got to thinking about all those guys. How young they were and the sacrifices they made. My Dad’s Division landed in France on June 29th, 1944. They participated in the Battle of the Bulge, suffered heavy losses at St. Lo, liberated many towns, and the 3rd Armored Division began the first invasion of Germany since Napoleon.

After breaching the Siegfried Line they pushed one half mile a day into Germany facing stiff resistance.

Man, what a difference 65 years has made. I’ll bet some of those guys were suffering from Seasonal Affective Disorder and didn’t even know it. Maybe some had tennis elbow or a social phobia? Who could blame them if they had restless leg syndrome?   Trust me, I am not making light of those conditions. I’m simply asking this; have we gotten too soft? Hey, I’m just asking. However, I am demanding this; if you or someone you know is a veteran, THANK THEM. As June 6th approaches, the 65th anniversary of D-Day, a special “THANK YOU” to all WW 2 vets. Thank you for not being soft.
